How to list your restaurant on Swiggy & Zomato in Bangalore
What you need, what to do in what order, and the listing mistakes that cost new restaurants orders in their first month.
Start with your documents
Both platforms check paperwork before they approve you, and missing or mismatched documents are the most common reason listings get stuck. Get these ready first:
- FSSAI licence or registration — non-negotiable. Neither platform will list a food business without a valid FSSAI number for that address.
- PAN card — of the business or the proprietor.
- Bank account details — usually a cancelled cheque, so payouts can be set up.
- GST registration — legally required above the turnover threshold, and asked for by the platforms in most cases.
- Owner ID — such as an Aadhaar card.
- Your menu — with prices, plus photos of your dishes.
Check this first: your business name and address should match exactly across FSSAI, GST, PAN and your bank details. Small mismatches are a common cause of rejections and delays.
The steps
- Sign up on each partner portal — Swiggy and Zomato each have their own restaurant partner sign-up.
- Add your restaurant details — name, address, location pin, cuisine and timings.
- Upload documents — FSSAI, PAN, GST and bank details.
- Build your menu — categories, dishes, prices, descriptions and photos.
- Review and sign the agreement — read the commission and payout terms carefully. They vary by restaurant, area and plan.
- Verification — the platform reviews your application, and sometimes a field executive visits to check your setup.
Approval usually takes from about a week to a few weeks, depending on how complete your documents are. Apply well before opening day — never in your launch week.
Getting approved isn't the same as getting orders
A live listing with blurry photos and a 60-item menu will sit at the bottom of the app. What moves you up:
- Professional photos for every dish. On a delivery app, the photo is the whole sales pitch.
- A tight, well-organised menu. Clear categories, your best-sellers at the top, no duplicate dishes.
- Descriptions that sell. "Slow-cooked for 6 hours with whole spices" beats "Chicken curry".
- Delivery-friendly pricing and packaging. Price in the platform commission so delivery is still profitable.
- Early reviews. Your first 30 days of ratings shape your ranking — reply to every review.
